MG Astor SUV revealed: Features like AI personal assistant and Autonomous Level 2 technology
MG Astor SUV: The MG Astor will feature Autonomous Level 2 technology backed by a mid-range radar and a multi-purpose camera that can realize a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
MG Motor India on Wednesday unveiled the MG Astor, its upcoming mid-size SUV equipped with AI personal assistant and Autonomous Level 2 technology. The British automaker is looking to further expand its focus on automotive technology by building on the concept of Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) of opportunities and services.
MG is working on artificial intelligence (AI) to enable the development and application of services and subscriptions that support the "on-demand needs of in-car customers". The MG Astor is the first car in the company's global portfolio to receive a personal AI assistant.
The AI assistant has been designed by the American firm 'Star Design'. It displays human-like emotions and voices and can provide detailed information on any topic via Wikipedia.
The AI will interact with humans in the car and will be powered by i-Smart Hub, a platform that will house CAAP's partnerships, services and subscriptions. It will allow customers to personalize their service experience.
"As an auto tech brand, we have always pioneered breakthrough technologies and now we are taking it a step further with artificial intelligence. Astor takes it a step further and is a catalyst for upheaval with industry-first and best-in-class features that customers can only get in the premium/luxury segment. With a relentless pursuit of innovation and software at the heart of the production, our vehicles will continue to deliver a smarter and safer driving experience through the use of AI," said Rajeev Chaba, President and MD at MG Motor India.
The company said the MG Astor, which consists of Autonomous Level 2 technology, is equipped with a mid-range radar and a multi-purpose camera that can implement a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
These include adaptive cruise control, collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane departure warning, lane departure warning, intelligent headlight control (IHC), reversing assist (RDA) and speed assist.
These features can significantly improve driving safety and comfort and have been further optimized for Indian traffic conditions, the company said.
MG said CAAP builds an ecosystem of various in-vehicle services. It offers subscriptions and services like maps and navigation with MapMyIndia, Jio connectivity, KoineArth's first blockchain-protected digital vehicle passport and more. In addition, MG owners get access to music through the JioSaavn app and can reserve a parking space for their vehicles in select cities through a Park+ powered head unit.
