MG Astor to be Unveile
The MG Astor will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq
MG Motors recently announced that its upcoming mid-size SUV, the Astor, will be the first Indian car to have an AI assistant in the car. Moreover, the Astor will be the first car in its segment to feature Level 2 autonomous driving technology with the Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS.
MG Motors will launch the Astor for the Indian market on September 15. The MG Astor will be positioned below the Hector in MG's SUV range, making it MG's most affordable model on sale. Once launched in India, the MG Astor will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
Design of the MG Astor
The Astor is essentially a redesigned version of the MG ZS facelift, which is available in other countries. For India, MG has revised the grille, front bumper and rear bumper. The Astor will feature LED headlamps with automatic high beam assist, LED tail lamps and 17' diamond cut alloy wheels.
MG Astor powertrain
MG will launch the Astor in India with a choice of two petrol engines. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine is expected to produce 120bhp and 150Nm of torque. A more powerful 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 163 PS and 230 Nm of torque will be available for the higher variants.
Features of the MG Astor
As mentioned earlier, the MG Astor will be the first car in its segment to feature AI Assistant and Level 2 autonomous driving technology. The AI assistant is capable of responding to voice commands, displaying emojis and answering questions from the internet. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) includes features like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking, to name a few. In addition, the Astor features a 10.1-inch display with Jio internet connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 7-inch instrument panel.
