Best Selling SUV in India in May 2021

There are so many SUVs in our country that one of them will likely pass you every few seconds while you are walking down the street. While all the major automakers also offer hatchbacks and sedans, it is their own SUV range that really fetchs a lot of money. Therefore, it is not entirely surprising that we see sales of these vehicles reach really high levels. Despite this, some companies have found the semiconductor shortage and rising input costs a constant harbinger of trouble. However, there are still brands that had a great head start in March 2021 when it comes to SUV sales. Here are the top 5 of the last month ...

Here are the list of Best Selling SUV in India :

Hyundai Creta

Of course! What would be a ‘top 5 best-selling SUVs’ list if it didn’t have the Hyundai Creta in it? The Creta has been on sale in India since 2015 and received a major update in 2020. With 12,640 units sold in March 2021, the Creta is by far the most successful of all SUVs in the market right now. For context, the best-selling car in the country last month was the Maruti Suzuki Swift, totaling 21,714 units. The Hyundai Creta retails for between Rs 10.00 Lakh and Rs 17.54 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), with five different trim levels available.

MG Hector

The MG Hector facelift has been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, all India). Launched in India in June 2019, this is the first comprehensive update for the Hector SUV. The model is offered in four variants that include Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp.

Engine options on the 2021 MG Hector facelift include the same 1.5-litre petrol motor, 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid motor, and the 2.0-litre diesel motor. A six-speed manual transmission is standard while a DCT and CVT unit is offered exclusively with the petrol mill.

On the outside, the new MG Hector facelift receives a redesigned front bumper, new grille, new alloy wheels, and a refreshed rear profile. The interiors of the model are now equipped with features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging, dual-tone beige and black upholstery, and leather seats. The model also gets Hinglish voice commands, details of which are available here.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Selling an impressive 11,274 units, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was the second-best-selling SUV in March 2021. The Vitara Brezza, while quite an older design compared to the new Creta, is definitely more affordable. It has a price tag ranging between Rs 7.39 Lakh to Rs 11.20 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in four trim levels, the Vitara Brezza boasts a distinctive but well-liked boxy exterior styling. Going along with those two factors is the extensive Maruti Suzuki network that makes buying and owning a Vitara Brezza is quite a breezy affair.

Hyundai Venue

The interior of the Hyundai Venue gets quite a lot more features than the Vitara Brezza. For example, there is a cooled glovebox, an electric sunroof, paddle shifters, and a wireless charging pad. However, there are also regular things such as keyless entry with push-button start, automatic climate control, cruise control, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but a larger 8-inch infotainment touchscreen instead of the Maruti’s 7-inch unit. On the safety front, the Venue scores Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Assist Control, and up to 6 airbags on top variants.
