MG Motor India rolls out first SUV from Halol facility
MG Motor India said on Monday that the company launched the first Indian Hector SUV car at its Gujarat plant in Halol. Officially released data shows that this is MG's first automobile SUV in India. After testing 1 million kilometres under various roads and climatic conditions across India, it has been put into commercial production.
The company will start selling SUVs in the next few weeks.
Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director of MG Motor India, said: "We are honoured to launch India's first feature-rich Internet car MG Hector from our new assembly line in Gujarat."
The company has invested Rs 22 crore in manufacturing plants in the area vacated by General Motors.
The company built new assembly lines, stamping workshops, body workshops, parts distribution centres, test tracks and training facilities within 18 months. The annual production capacity of the Halol plant is 80,000 units.
