MG Motor India is set to launch its first SUV in India, the Hector, which will basically make its debut in the country. MG Motor is a subsidiary of Shanghai-based SAIC-owned SAIC Motor UK. They are the largest importers of Chinese-made cars in the United Kingdom. His international portfolio includes popular cars such as the ZS, HS SUV and MG3. As per their India plans, MG Hector will enter the competitive SUV space, which is seen by many domestic and international automobile manufacturers. MG Motor India also announced that their second product in India will be an all-electric SUV based on the medium-sized MG ZS. This one will be launched in 2020. However, so far it is the MG Hector SUV that attracts all our attention as it will be launched in India in mid-2019. Here are the top five facts you should know.
Yes, that’s right. The MG Hector SUV will be based on the China-spec Baojun 530. However, it has been confirmed that the MG motor version will be re-engineered to ensure that it meets the Indian driving conditions. The platform is expected to be largely similar to the Baojun 530. The China-Space 530 SUV is currently a five-seater, but it is sufficient to be able to accommodate the third row. how big? It is 4,655 mm long, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, Hyundai Tucson with a length of 180 mm and a wheelbase of 80 mm. It is the Skoda Kodiak in almost the same league, 4,697 mm in length and 2,791 mm on the wheelbase.
The MG Hector will be available in both petrol and diesel engines. While the diesel engine is a 2.0-liter that also works in the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier, the tune position in the MG Hector will vary. We expect it to be more powerful than the Harrier. The petrol engine can be an all-new unit that will debut in the Hector SUV. While MG Motor has revealed nothing but a teaser video of a test mule operating at Spiti, it is said that MG Hector’s performance will be on par with its rivals.

MG Motor India is clear about the status of the Hector SUV which will be a premium offering in the compact SUV space. MG’s latest crop offers all-digital instrumentation on a 12.1-inch screen, with signature turbine-sized air conditioning vents on the far edges of the dashboard in addition to 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment.
4) Rivals
While its main competitor will be the Hyundai Creta, Hector will also come with class raving features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, traction control and more to take on the likes of Tata Harrier and Jeep. compass.
5) Price and Availability
Hector has been confirmed to be launched in mid-2019, which may be in June 2019. MG will have 100 sales and service touchpoints by May 2019. MG will heavily localize components, 75 percent to be exact, aggressively priced against Hector. We believe that the price of Hector can start from Rs 15 lakh.

MG assures customers of a price guarantee for the first delivery of Astor The MG Astor was launched in October at an introductory price of ₹9.78 lakh. At the time of launch, MG announced that the first batch of pre-orders will be limited to 5000 units. MG also assured that these 5000 cars will be delivered before the end of 2021.
