MG Motor India has started deliveries of its new mid-size SUV, MG Astor. The Astor was launched in India just last month and has received a positive response from the market. The MG Astor is already sold out for 2021 as the first batch of 5,000 was booked within 20 minutes of opening reservations. However, you can still reserve this SUV online or at a MG dealer near you for delivery in 2022. Now, the company has started deliveries and on the very first day, more than 500 units of the new MG Astor have been delivered in India.

MG Motor India has delivered the first batch of more than 500 units of the MG Astor to customers on the Dhanteras festival. This is quite special for the carmaker considering that there is a shortage of semiconductors globally.

The MG Astor will be offered in India with two petrol engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops 110 PS of power and 144 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed CVT gearbox. There is also a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 140 PS and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. This engine is only mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with torque converter. It is India's first car with AI in the cabin and Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

The introductory ex-works price of Rs 9.78 lakh - Rs 17.38 lakh was valid for 2021 only. So, for new orders for 2022, the company will charge the revised prices for this mid-size SUV, which are yet to be announced. The MG Astor is a direct competitor to Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Nissan Kicks, etc
