MG Motor reports nil retail sales for April amid lockdown

On Friday, MG Motor India Pvt Ltd, the maker of Hector sport utility vehicles, reported that due to the national blockade, all dealers were closed that month, so retail sales in April were zero.

The company said in a formal statement today: "MG Motor India, which only reports retail sales figures, had zero retail sales in April."

The company said that after the government relaxed its lock-in regulations for certain industries and companies in rural areas, the automaker has resumed operations and started small-scale production at its plant in Harol, Gujarat in the last week of April.

MG Motor hopes to increase production in May and cooperate with local suppliers to ensure smooth supply chain support.

The company is preparing a new agreement to resume work, including disinfection and social isolation.

The company said on April 30 that its engineering team at the Halol plant, in cooperation with the Natraj car body manufacturer headquartered in Ahmedabad, had converted its latest SUV cars into a temporary ambulance and donated the car to Medical institutions in Vadodara.

Hector ambulances are equipped with self-loading stretchers, oxygen systems with gas cylinders, fire extinguishers, medicine cabinets with 5 parameter monitors, internal lighting and overhead light bars with siren and amplifiers, inverters with batteries and socket And other medical equipment.

The company has also partnered with AB Industries, a leading local ventilator manufacturer based in Vadodara, to help the latter increase the output of medical devices.

The two companies plan to increase production capacity to 300 fans per month in the first phase, and the production line will be completed within the next 8 weeks. They plan to further increase capacity in the second phase, producing up to 1,000 ventilators per month.
