MG Motor India Sells 1,518 units in March.

MG Motor India today announced that it has seen total retail sales of 1,518 units in March 2020. This includes 116 units of his ZS EV, and 1,402 units of Hector. According to Autocar Professional's sales estimates, it sold Hector's total sales in FY15 since July 2019, an average of 2,408 units. The ZS EV has sold a total of 274 units since its launch on 23 January 2020. It takes MG Motor India's FY2020 cumulative sales to 21,954 units.

Commenting on the sales performance for March 2020, Rajiv Chaba, Chairman and Managing Director, MG Motor India said, “Both Hector and ZS EV have made their mark in the Indian car market. Despite supply chain disruptions globally, MG Motor continues to serve its customers. In February, our sales were affected due to the dissolution, while the situation improved during March before the lockdown was announced, resulting in the closure of our manufacturing plant. "

“Our current focus is on the health and well-being of our employees and their families as well as society at large. In this search, we have announced a grant of 2 crores towards purchasing gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators and beds; Chaba said that in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara) are working closely with the local administration.

With zero stock of Hector's BS-IV units at its dealership and its factory, the carmaker has recently started production of BS-VI variants; However, the company says that it currently has very little BS-VI inventory at its dealership and has a manufacturing facility in Halol.

Even as the Indian automobile industry brakes for the Kovid-19's impact on its sales, the first clues to the disastrous march in March are: March sales of market leader Maruti Suzuki India. At 76,976 units, its March 2020 numbers are down 48% on the year (March 2019: 147,613). This is the worst monthly sales performance for the company in a very long time, and commented on how hard sales will be for the PV industry this year.
