Launch Details Out of MG Hector Plus India
MG Motor India has had a good share of success with its first SUV in India - the Hector. The company has already crossed the 50,000 booking mark for Hector with the launch of its second car - ZS EV in the country. It is clear that MG Motor India is betting big on the SUV segment for its growth. At the Auto Expo 2020, MG Motor India made it clear that the SUV remains the prime target of its growth in the country. It showcased Hector Plus which would provide more seating capacity on the inside.
The Hector Plus will only be offered in both 6- and 7-seater cabin layouts, with captain seats in the second row. The 6-seater car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and the company says the 7-seater version will only be shown at launch. MG Motor India will launch Hector Plus in the second half of 2020.
MG Hector Plus comes with updated exterior styling, especially a new face with less chrome element giving it a much classier look.
The company launched the Hector SUV in the country in June 2019, so it cannot be ruled out that another launch in the same month this year. Despite squeezing two extra seats in the last row, the wheelbase of the MG Hector Plus is similar to the current model. In fact we have been told that MG has updated the dimensions of the SUV, though the company has not yet revealed the figures. By this, the SUV has certainly grown in size, at least marginally. The regular MG Hector is the tallest among all compact SUVs in India (even the Tata Harrier) with the longest footprint.
The wheelbase of MG Hector Plus is the same as Hector's 5-seater.
At the front, the MG Hector looks different than the Plus Hector and although the changes are minor, it enhances the overall look of the SUV. It gets a new shiny black grille, emanating from a set of new LED day-time running lamps. The headlamps have also been updated and the new ones now look great, and the plastic cladded bumper has replaced the body color. However, it has 17-inch wheels that still look small for the SUV due to the wide, boxy wheel arches, and at least this time the company could have gone with larger wheels.
