Two New MG SUVs, Two MPVs Launching soon in India

MG Hector, the British car manufacturer's first offering in India, has been receiving tremendous response since its launch. Encouraged by its success, the carmaker plans to bring its 6 and 7-seater variants (MG Hector Plus) in the coming months. In addition, carmakers will enter the SUV segment as a whole, with MG Gloster and MG G10 and MG 360 M making their debut in India at Auto Expo 2020.

The MG Hector Plus 6-seater version will be the first in hit showrooms. While the 6-seater variant will be launched in the summer, the 7-seater model will come around the 2020 Diwali season.

Powering the SUV will be 170PS, 2.0L diesel, and 143PS, 1.5L turbo petrol engine that will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 6-speed DCT transmission will only be available with the petrol engine. The design of the Hector Plus will be slightly different from that of the standard 5-seater Hector SUV.

Speaking of MG Gloster, the 7-seater SUV is based on the China-spec Maxus D90. In terms of size, the SUV measures more than 5 meters in length making it more than 200 Toyota Land Cruiser tall. In India, the Gluster is likely to be offered with an MG Motors Dealership in-house developed 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine that is good for 218 million hp and 480Nn. It can be launched around the Diwali season of 2020.

The MG G10 is a luxury MPV that can be stacked against the newly launched Kia Carnival. The new MPV, based on the China-spec Max 10, is 5168 mm in length, 1980 mm in width and 1928 mm in height. It comes with 7,8 and 9-seat configurations.

At the heart of the MG G10 is a 2.4L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that increases power around 140bhp and torque of 210Nm. It also comes with 2.0L turbo petrol and 1.9L diesel engine options. It may reach Indian shores sometime in 2021.

With the MG360M, the British carmaker will mark its entry into the compact MPV segment which is currently ruled by the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The model showcased at the Auto Expo was packed with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that also powers the MG Hector SUV. In India, the MG 360M can be brought with an FCA-source 2.0L diesel engine.
