MG ZS Electric SUV unveiled in India

MG Motors has finally unveiled the second offering ZS Electric SUV in India. The EV is to be launched in January 2020 along with the Hyundai Kona.
The new MG ZS electric SUV finally makes its debut in India. It is the second electric SUV in India to cost less than Rs 25 lakh to reduce Hyundai Kona. Prices will come out in January 2020.

The MG ZS EV is a B-segment SUV with dimensions like Hyundai Creta, Kia Keltos and Nissan Kicks. Booking for EG starts at Rs 50,000 at the MG dealership. We expect delivery to begin early next year.

Under the hood, the ZS EV gets a 44.5 kW electric motor with a lithium-ion IP67 rated battery. The motor is capable of generating 143 PS of power and 353 Nm of peak torque. MG claims that the ZS EV will offer a driving range of 340 km.

Three driving modes - Eco, Normal and Sport are given. The SUV is capable of touching 0–100 km / h in 8.5 seconds. The electric battery system is Bosch-derived and follows a sophisticated management system with three levels of regenerative braking.

The MG ZS EV will be available with five charging options. The first plug will have a direct plug-in through three plugs. You also have the option to install an AC home charger. The fast-charger will be installed at select MG dealerships that will be open 24X7. On the fast charger, the SUV will be charged up to 80% in just 50 minutes. On a regular AC charger, it will take 6-8 hours to fully charge.

The other two options include the extended charging system and the on-the-go charge. MG has confirmed that it will provide a 7.4 kW AC charger for the house completely free. With this, MG plans to set up charging stations every 5 kilometers in metro cities for the next three years.

The i-Smart V2 touchscreen infotainment includes the ability to connect to onboard integrated E-SIM and WiFi hotspots, real-time map with charging location, LED headlamps, keyless entry, Skyurf, twin-pod instrument console digital. Rotary gear knob, electronic parking brake, inbuilt PM2.5 air filter and auto start-stop system.

Initially, the MG ZS EV will be available in only five cities - Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The manufacturer is developing its own public charging stations, initially at the MG dealership itself.
