MG Motor Launch MG Hector Plus 6 and 7 seater
Morris Garage recently unveiled the MG Hector Plus SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. The three-row version of the Hector will offer captain seats and second-row bench-type seats with 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, respectively. While the MG Hector Plus 6-seater will hit showrooms in the summer, the 7-seater version will be launched during the 2020 festive season.
The MG Hector Plus 6-seater third-row seats will come with a 50:50 split ratio and the 7-seater model comes with 60:40 split-bench seats. Both versions will come with a 2.0L diesel borrowed from a 5-seater Hector and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The oil burner provides the power of 170PS and 350Nm, and the gasoline motor makes 143PS and 250Nm. While a 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, a 6-speed DCT will be offered exclusively with petrol engines.
Minor cosmetic changes have been made to the three-row Hector. The model features a thick LED DRL, an all-black grille without chrome surrounds, revised front bumpers, headlamps and fog lamps with a new triangular design and LED light bar on the tailgate. The reverse light and reflector are placed slightly higher on the bumper.
Compared to the 5-seater Hector, the MG Hector Plus is 40 mm longer. Inside, the model is likely to get an updated 10.4-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system. The higher trim can be offered exclusively with MG's in-car connectivity suite and a panoramic roof.
The prices of the MG Hector Plus 6 and 7-seater models will be more or less the same. Both versions are priced at a premium of around Rs 1 lakh above the 5-seater Hector, available at a price of Rs 12.73 lakh - Rs 17.43 lakh (ex-showroom). Talking about the competition, the three-line variants of the SUV will be pitted against the upcoming new generation Mahindra XUV500, Tata Gravitas, and Ford's XUV500-based SUV.
