Eight facts you should know about MG Hector !

MG Motor is now operating and is its first product name in India: Hector. The mid-size SUV is now fully demonstrated. About Hector, you should know the following 8 solid things:

1. MG: India's "new" automaker

MG a.k.a Morris Garages has been established in the UK (aged 95) since 1924 (pre-independence era) and is known for its classic sports cars and cabriolets. MG was acquired by China's state-owned SAIC Group (formerly SAIC) in the late 2000s.

2. What is Hector's name?

According to the British automaker, the name "Hector" was inspired by several factors, all related to Europe. The first was Hawker Hector, a hawker who served as a biplane in the Royal Army in the 1930s. Second, Hector of Troy, Prince Troy, fought bravely during the Trojan War.

3.Hector based

The 2019 MG Hector will share its platform and style with Baojun's 530 SUV, another Baojun car manufacturer such as SAIC's MG Motor. According to the latest trailer, except for the MG badge, Hector seems to be the same as the Baojun SUV.

4. Competitive prices and competitors

MG's goal is to achieve 75% localization when Hector starts. Expected prices are between Rs 1.5 million and Rs 2 million, similar to the price range of Jeep Compass. MG Hector will also face off against Tata Harrier, Hyundai Tucson and Mahindra XUV500.

5. Size matters!

In terms of total length and wheelbase, MG Hector is also the longest car in this field, which is also a big gap. It will also be taller and wider than the compass and modern Tucson. Ideally, this should dominate the road compared to competitors.

6.Both petrol and diesel engines are included

The MG Hector will be powered by the same Fiat 2.0-liter Multijet diesel engine as the Jeep Compass. A gasoline engine will also be provided, but MG Motor has not revealed any details about it. We think this may be a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline, as seen in the Chinese-spec Baojun 530. Although no confirmation has been made about the automatic diesel version, it is expected that the gasoline-powered Hector is expected to obtain an automatic version in India. Here are the specifications of the expected engine options:

7. Powerful

Now that functionality has begun to change purchasing decisions, in high-end market segments like Hector, manufacturers are trying to outperform their peers to attract buyers. In the eyes of feature-rich competitors such as Compass, Tucson, and Harrier, MG may clean up Hector. This model is expected to provide a state-of-the-art 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with embedded controls for air conditioning. MG Hector also has a panoramic sunroof! Compass and Tucson are the only SUVs with panoramic sunroofs in this segment, but these variants are priced above Rs 2 million.

8. Built-in Internet technology

MG will work with Hector to provide built-in Internet technology. For example, Roewe (MG), a subsidiary of SAIC, provides similar technology in China. Each RX5 has a unique ID and provides electronic payment solutions for fuel, parking, repair and maintenance. The infotainment unit of MG also comes with a voice assistant to control functions such as audio playback and navigation, searching for points of interest, making phone calls, and checking the weather. A smart access key similar to Volvo is also provided, which is bundled with the smartphone application and you can share it with others.
